As you may have heard, Meetup has announced the launch of a new Meetup platform called Meetup Alliance ...

We're happy and proud to announce the launch of a "preview" version of a new service from Meetup.

In fact, the service has its own new website. It's called the Meetup Alliance Platform (www.meetupalliance.com). We hope it will help your Meetup team up with other local groups to do even more great things.

I am honored to be an Organizer of one of the 50 Charter Alliance groups ... P.A.W.S. (Pets Across the World) United! Please stop by and check things out. Although the site is very new & under construction, I still invite you to join us.

P.A.W.S. United is an alliance of leaders of DOG groups and organizations, aimed at:

~ Promoting Events, Rescue & Dog-friendly Venues
~ Dispersing dog info
~ Gaining Sponsors
~ Acting against unfavorable dog laws
~ and More..

There is strength in numbers, and I see great things on the horizon for P.A.W.S. United! Don't wait ... become a Charter member of this Meetup Charter Alliance group!

Boxer Hugs,

P.A.W.S. United

Oh, BTW ... P.A.W.S. United is not a Meetup only alliance ... All group Organizers are welcome ... no matter what they use to organize themselves. Any group can join a Meetup Alliance, whether it's hosted on Meetup, Google, MySpace, Facebook, Yahoo, your own site, or no site at all. cool

I have heard your complaints on how to join P.A.W.S. UNITED Alliance is not clear.

Below is the work-around I designed (based on help/advice from fellow Alliance Organizer Wendy) to help solve this problem:

(check box - "I already have a local group")

For a Wagging Good Time!

All Leaders of dog groups/organizations welcome here!

Including those dog groups from:

The following post is in response to all of the questions I have been receiving regarding the new Meetup Alliance - P.A.W.S. UNITED:

If you would like to join P.AW.S. UNITED, just click on the "Add/Start a Local Group" button left of the map. Sorta confusing, I know. I'll be adding it to my list of "please fix this" that I'll be sharing with Meetup. When I get frustrated I just remember to tell myself that this new platform is still in Beta. confused (UPDATE - I have now added a "Click HERE to JOIN!" link ... right above the map.)

Please enter a pic (aka Icon) of your group, your next Meetup/meeting date & number of members in your group, and check the "Auto Update" & "Organizer" check boxes, when signing-up. I had to go back and redo mine when I signed-up because it was not clear. Argh! (Oh, you will find this info. under the "ACCOUNT" link at the very top of the P.A.W.S. United page, next to the sign-in/log-out link.)

You are also welcome, and encouraged, to sign-up all the different DOG groups that you may be the Organizer of. This includes non-Meetup dog groups too ... such as Google, Yahoo, MySpace, etc. The Organizers of all dog groups, rescues, etc. ... for all sized dogs, big & small ... around the world ... are welcome to join. biggrin

Thanks for you interest & support,
~ Pamela ~

P.S. Meetup has designed the Alliance platform to be an Organizer/Leaders only network. Although it would be awesome to allow members of groups to join too, this is not what Meetup intended. Sort of a "Mayors" only set-up, where the "Mayors" represent their "cities" and share info. to/from P.A.W.S. UNITED with them.
