Good Weekend Backpacking with Pooches

Hi all -

As spring gets into full swing here, Jon, Dixie and I are itching to get out and do some backpacking. But we're new to the area, and are still in the research phase of things. Could anyone recommend some good places to go - short weekend trips (one night - 20 miles tops) in the area to longer circuit hikes in the mountains? Anything that doesn't require driving more than 2 hours. Dixie is a great ascent pup, so if anyone wants to do some hills with us (it's a better workout than you will get anywhere else!), please let us know.
