Pet Loss Support Group
Every 3rd Thurday of the month
7 - 8 p.m.
From the Bidawee website:
At Bideawee, we believe that our four-legged companions are important parts of the family. Saying goodbye to our loving animal companions can be a tough and very emotional journey.
Bideawee wants you to know that you are not alone. Since there are many people experiencing the same loss Bideawee is now providing a support system to deal with your loss.
Families, including children, are welcome to attend our pet loss support groups.
Each support group is facilitated by one of Bideawee's qualified volunteers who specialize in animal bereavement Lynn Krigbaum, LCW, a licensed practioner & ordained interfaith Minister and Joan Fromewick, LCSW, an experienced professional therapist.
Please contact Bideawee's Learning Center in advance for this free service:

Joan Fromewick, LCSW, is a senior social work psychotherapist in private practice. She has extensive experience in the field of ILLNESS, LOSS and BEREAVEMENT, and has worked for many years with individuals, couples and families who have suffered the loss of a loved one, whether human or animal.
Ms. Fromewick has found that people who have seriously ill pets or who have lost their animal companions go through much of the same kinds of grief as those experiencing human loss. Often complicating and prolonging this process is that our society doesn't recognize the importance of pets to our well-being and quality of life, and the lack of community resources to help people through this very painful and upsetting time.
As both a therapist and pet owner, Ms. Fromewick strongly beleives that no one should have to face this experience alone. She is pleased to facilitate a monthly bereavement support group for the Bideawee community.
Lynn Krigbaum, LMSW, is trained as a body-oriented psychotherapist with a full time practice in New York City's upper west side. She is also an ordained Interfaith Minister and incorporates into her work, if appropriate, spiritual guidance and counseling.
Lynn has had many years of experience helping people with a wide range of life issues including eating disorders, abuse, life transitions, relationships, anxiety and depression and personal growth. As a pet owner, she believes our relationship with our pets are an invaluable part of our lives. She understands that the loss a beloved pet can be devastating and is very aware of the likely need for support during this difficult time. She offers a safe, nurturing environment to work through the loss and many stages of mourning.
