Is there any kind of ordinance or law against walking a big group of dogs in the city?
I was looking at all the yard dogs on our morning walk and I was thinking, maybe if we had a city walk every now and then, we could get people to start thinking about how they treat their dogs. I think people would notice a big crowd of dogs walking around in a residential neighborhood, maybe we could start some conversations, you know? I'm not big on being preachy, but I see these dogs outside morning and night, in all kinds of weather, miserable and frantic when we pass by; some of them attack each other because they can't get to Swiper. Any thoughts? |

I think it would be a great idea, but I have heard something about a "fee for marching" and I am still trying to locate that ordinance..... I think I will end up calling the City Manager tomorrow to get some kind of direction/clarification on it. I have thought many times of walking on the River Walk with Gazira before it gets too crowded with tourists. One of these days I will, but more than likely it will be after she gets her temperment test done just to COB's as a CGC is good, but a TT is better.
Let me know if you would like to get together just to walk the dogs.... its always easier for me to get out of the house if there is someone else to go with :-) Molly is out of commision for at least 2 weeks(thanks to Gazira), and I am anticipating Gazira to be confined to the house for three weeks, so that will leave Max and Mr. Piddles (who desperatly needs stranger interaction) :-) Edited by Aeriana on Feb 7, 2008 2:02 AM |

I think it would be a great idea to get a group together for a walk. I don't know about a "fee for marching" but I do know, from past experience, that you are supposed to have a "parade permit" if you assemble more than 25 people on a designated route. I don't see where getting a group of dog walkers together should create any problems. The River Walk would be a neat place to walk early on a weekend morning.

Kenny, Aeriana, I would LOVE to get together tomorrow morning (before 2pm) or anytime on Sunday for a walk! I don't know many parks around here, but I live sort of near North Star Mall. I can also find my way to Mcallister park pretty well. Or, we can walk my route through the neighborhood...It's about 2 1/2 miles long, between Blanco & San Pedro.
Let me know!! |

I have to work until 2 on Saturday and I'll be taking the dogs to O.P. at 3. I'm up for walking the dogs on Sunday. Give me a call @ 823-7941 and we'll work out the when and where and post the results for the rest of the crew

Alright everybody, looks like we're going to go walking at Mcallister park at 9:00 AM on Sunday the 10th. We'll meet at the playground, which will be the first parking lot to your left when you come in from 13102 Jones-Maltsberger.
Kenny will be wearing his purple 'Got Labs' Tshirt, and if you can't find him, look for me and the dog with satellite-dish sized ears. I don't know what trail we'll take, but we'll probably go for an hour, hour and a half. If you want to post a message and let us know that you're going, that would be awesome! Hope to see you there! Kenny, the family & I had a great time this morning! Thanks again for leading the way; Cynthia's head is feeling much better, but she's been telling everyone she sees how she hit her head and there was ALL THIS BLOOD and then she went to the park.
So even she had a good time. Afterwards we saw one of the other Nature Hounds members at the dog park, but I cannot, for the life of me remember his name. Anyway, can't wait to do it again the 16th! Edited by User 6,079,580 on Feb 10, 2008 5:51 PM |

oops, Im sorry!! I just ow checked this board..... (bad me, bad me!!) Although I would not have been able to make a walk last weekend because I had drill :-( I will tweek the settings so I get an update for new messages. I would still love to get out (especially at the river walk, though the one dog I would trust there asside from the puppy is out of commission for at least another week) and walk the dogs.
