Who

We welcome anyone who is up for about an hour long light hike with their dogs. The difficulty level for this walk is easy. Anyone who loves dogs and loves to spend time outdoors getting some fresh air will fit right in!

Why

Good dogs, friendly people, and beautiful hill country scenery- what more could you ask for?

Organized by

"Once you arrive at the park, when you are facing Comanche Hill to the left of the parking lot there is a large grassy area. I will have a sign and be waiting!"
--Audra (Pack Leader!)

Details

We will meet briefly before starting our walk to get to know each other and talk about some good warm up strategies for your dogs- don't forget they need to stretch and warm up to prevent injuries, too!

There are 3 different trail levels ranging from a low incline, paved path all the way to a rocky hike, straight to the top of the hill. This is not an advanced level hiking experience, so anyone can participate and enjoy!

Please wear tennis or athletic type shoes and have your dogs leashed- this is not an off leash dog park. Unless there is a medical reason for your dog to wear a harness (ie collapsing trachea) he or she should be on a collar and leash, preferably a 6 foot regular nylon or leather leash (no retractables, please) for your safety and the safety of other dogs and hikers. Make sure to bring water- there are water fountains on the trail and plenty of places to break, but it's better to be safe than sorry, especially if it's warm!

Difficulty level for this trail is moderate according to the Texas Trails Network website, however I've walked it before and am by no means 'physically fit' as the website suggests you should be for it. It's not quite a mile and has moderate inclines in some places, but is mostly paved. There are more difficult trails to choose if you wish. More information can be found here:

Comanche Lookout is a great little park with a lot of history, there are ruins from when the Comanche indians used to use it as a lookout point to spot invaders and an old tower (in the picture) that was used for the same.

We're looking forward to getting out and hiking with a "new pack". We've done a few hikes with the LabLovers and always ready to meet new friends. Peyton will be carrying some extra water for the dogs. Unless something changes before Sunday, we'll see ya' there!

This is so exciting! Our first event is 4 days away and we already have a great group who have rsvp'd to come out! I can't wait to meet everyone, and if you can't make it, I look forward to seeing you at one of our future meetups!
