RE: Active Dogs Spring Meet-Up

Hi again,

Finally caught a moment after a busy week-end (Mother's Day) and hectic Monday at work to say thank you to everyone who attended our first meet-up! Paddington and I enjoyed the afternoon and hope to organize another event in the near future.

I also wanted to update everyone who attended that "Tick" season is here; Paddington picked up a tick sometime between his Friday evening walk and Sunday night. While brushing him before his bed time on Sunday, I found a large tick and yesterday had my vet remove it properly; she is sending it out to the lab for analysis to determine its species and ensure that it is not the Lyme Disease type. This is the first time for me in Montreal that we have picked up a tick. Much more common in rural and suburban areas, the vet informed me that they have moved north across the border, and that the government is keeping statistics; so, if you pick up a tick, make sure you have your vet remove it for analysis!

Ticks are usually more of a nuisance than a discomfort, but still pose a potential risk for infection. Be aware!
