Hello Drinkers and Dogs,

Thanks for all of the great feedback. Since the group started off downtown I thought we would kick off the summer downtown and look expand out the metro area throughout the summer.

Union Pub is reserving a section for us and will have Saturday Doggie drink specials going on:

$5 Mini Corn Dog Buckets
$5 Dog Tail Wines (White and Red)
$5 Flying Dog Tire Bite

Look forward to meeting you all.
Thanks,
Jeff

Our next event is a picnic at Rock Creek Park. It will be at picnic area #24. It has bathrooms, a shelter, a fireplace, parking, and is right next the Leg Mason Tennis Stadium.

This will be bring your own beer. I'll bring some hot dogs and burgers to share. If have the time and inclination then feel free to bring something to grill or a dish to share. But please don't feel that you have to. I was very impressed with the dishes that people made last year and there was more than enough.

This event will go from 12:00 until 3:00 PM. You dog is welcome. Please note that park regulations require your dog to be on a leash. So park rangers probably give tickets for dogs being off leash. This picnic area is more central than last year. So it'll be easier to find but also more patrolled I'd think.

Directions:
Google Maps: http://tinyurl.com/4hofc8
From Downtown Washington:Take 16th Street, NW north for four (4) miles. Look for the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center will be on the left. Then look for picnic area #24.

From I-495: Take I-495 Exit 31/Georgia Avenue south toward Silver Spring. Stay in the right lane for approximately 1/4 mile, then bear right onto 16th Street (Route 390). After approximately three (3) miles, the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center will be on the right. Then look for picnic area #24.

Hello everyone,
I've updated the first Doggie Happy hour event of the season. It'll be at Union Pub this Saturday at noon. I'm actually deleting the original event so I can get a better idea of how many people will show up. I think we have several people that signed up months ago and will not actually come. (Or fit in the bar...)

Union Pub
201 Massachusetts Ave NE
Washington, DC 20002
(202) 546-7200
(for those of you that don't live in the district please note that is is Mass Ave NORTHEAST which is near Union Station)

So please re-RSVP if you plan to attend. Union Pub will have some specials on beer and pitchers but their official dog related specials will not begin for 2 weeks. Dogs are allowed on the patio. Please keep them on a leash at all times. The patio has a very good cover so the event will not be canceled by light rain.

I'll post the next event soon. I reserved a picnic area in Rock Creek Park for Sunday May 4th.

It looks like the weather is going to be beautiful this weekend. I'm going to take Storm for a walk in Rock Creek Park on Sunday and I thought I'd see if anyone else is interested.

We'll meet at 1 PM on Sunday at the same parking lot where we had the picnic.
Google Map (starting from the White House): http://tinyurl.com/2kylsu

The Park is closed on the weekend to automobile traffic just north of the picnic area so we can just walk on the parkway with our dogs. It's not strenuous at all. There will be the occasional bike rider so please do NOT plan on having your dog off leash for the walk. But we can find other spots to let them free.

I'm totally flexible on how long or how far we'll walk but let's say 2 hours for scheduling purposes.

Email me with any questions.

Our next event is an evening picnic at Rock Creek Park. It will be at picnic area #1. Picnic area 1 has bathrooms, a shelter, a fireplace, parking, and is right next to the creek and Pierce Mill. It is centrally located off of Park Ave (when coming from 16th ST NW) and Tilden Ave (when coming from Connecticut Ave NW).

This will be bring your own beer. The park regulations I read did not state anything about alcohol. I'm going to buy a bunch of hot dogs and burgers to share. If have the time and inclination then feel free to bring something to grill or a dish to share. But since this is right after work please don't feel that you have to.

This event will go from 6 PM until Dark. Your friends without dogs are welcome.

Directions to the event from google can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/2kylsu
From Connecticut Ave NW Turn East (a right turn if going North) on Tilden Street and the picnic area will be on your right. There is a sign.

From 16th Street NW Turn West (An *illegal* left turn if going North) on Park Ave. Go over the bridge and pass Beach Drive. The picnic area will be on your left.

If you are going to let your dog get wet be sure to bring a towel for the ride back!

-Event Details which Changed-
I confirmed that their large patio is not getting too crowded during this time so I upped the RSVP limit from 25 to 50 people.

Union Pub asks that you keep your dog on a leash and remove fighting dogs.
Saturday will reach a high of 89 degrees, be very sunny and there is a 30% chance of some rain so please plan accordingly.
